Randy Spencer:
Maine Guide, columnist, musician
Randy Spencer still smarts from the sting of last summer. It began with Al Begin, who called to hire fishing guide Spencer for a two-day excursion. Begin was persistent, and Spencer, though booked, made time to accommodate him. “I fell for him,” says Spencer. “I gave him my only two days off.” Onto Big Lake they paddled, outside the town of Grand Lake Stream on the border of New Brunswick , with a population of 125.
“Someone befriends you, shares their life story, talks about family back in Vermont , you bond, have a wonderful day together. Next, you find out it was all false.”
